New York Jets Fantasy Football Preview

Out of all the team previews I am doing, this might be the shortest one of all. The New York Jets are doing everything in the power to tank this season. They have released the majority of their roster and have not been making any moves to try to “win now”. The Jets are building for the future, and Fantasy Football owners will suffer because of it.

Must Draft Players

  • Matt Forte – Running Back
  • Bilal Powell – Running Back

Matt Forte and Bilal Powell are players you must draft, mostly because it can be slim pickings at running back at times. The biggest issue is that they are essentially the same type of player for the Jets, and unless one of them gets injured they are going to eat away at each other’s production. If you look at the running back position for the Jets, the two of them combined for 88 receptions, 1,535 rushing yards, 651 receiving yards, 10 rushing touchdowns and 3 receiving touchdowns. As a running back group, they averaged 24 fantasy points per game. If one of them gets hurt (most likely Forte) and the other gets the full workload, you’ll be happy you took a Jets’ running back!

Players That Should Probably Be Drafted

  • Quincy Enunwa

The Jets released Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker during the offseason. That leaves Quincy Enunwa as the number one receiver for the team. It doesn’t matter what the team is, the number on receiver always needs to be drafted. Enunwa led the team in receiving last year with 857 yards on 58 receptions and 4 touchdowns. That gives him 10 points per game, which is totally fine for a flex player on your team.

Players You Could Draft If Your Rosters are Deep

  • Austin Seferian-Jenkins

Seferian-Jenkins is not someone you are going to draft because he has been a huge disappointment since coming into the NFL. In three seasons, he has 55 receptions for 713 yards and 7 touchdowns. However, the news from New York is that he was dealing with a lot of personal demons and has gotten to a point where he is in better shape and should live up to his potential this season. I have a “wait and see” mentality to Seferian-Jenkins this season, but if you have a deep roster he could be worth taking as a late round flyer.
